I
literally grew up around traffic safety and the
law. My father, Dennis Pecaut, was an officer
with the Blue Lake Police Dept. and a Humbolt
County Deputy Sheriff when I was a toddler. He
later became a traffic officer with the California
Highway Patrol (CHP) until retirement.
In 1963, when I was 9 years old, Dad opened Eureka
Driving School and I started sitting in on some
of his Driver Ed classes. For a couple of years
he even taught Driver Ed and Training at the Eureka
Adult Education Program where he honed his skills
further.
By 1975, I decided to get into the family business.
I lived in San Francisco while training to be
a driving instructor – what an experience!
After working for my father for 2 ½ years
in Eureka, teaching driving, I realized a need
for growth and set out for beautiful Redding,
California. Dad helped me start Shasta Driving
School and it officially opened on Oct 1 st, 1978!
Since then, Shasta Driving School has gone through
many changes. From a "one man show” to as
many as 25 employees in four locations throughout
the northstate. Currently the business has one
location with 8 employees which I find quite comfortable
and easy to work with.
